The Drakensberg of Kwazulu-Natal: Stories from a Mountain Range

The Drakensberg of Kwazulu-Natal: Stories from a Mountain Range
In December 2000 Unesco declared the uKhalamba-Drakensberg Park a World Heritage site on the basis of its scenic beauty, its high degree of biodiversity, and the exceptional cultural value of its heritage of San rock art. The establishment of the WHS provides an occasion for reflecting on the history of the region. This book tells a story about the lives and experiences of people in the Drakensberg region from the earliest known times to the present. It will be of great interest to South African readers hungry for alternative voices to those of the colonial hunters, soldiers, "pioneers," mountaineers, and game rangers who dominate in most of the literature.
